Jin Saotome: Transformers Animated Fix-Alterations

As a follow-up to Sabrblade's post asking about fan's experience with new Transformers: Animated figures, we thought we'd point out an excellent thread on Allspark.com where toy alterations guru Jin Saotome outlines a few very simple ways to correct issues people have mentioned. As he eloquently puts it, "...I agree that toys should come without problems right out of the box, but sometimes there are things that need to be worked out with a new series..." He also give instructions on contacting Hasbro and doing our part to let them know, when appropriate.

Armada MEGATRON

What's the biggest complaint everyone has about Armada Megatron? His totally unposable legs. Well, Jason fixed that... The joints that were used were the knee and swivle joint attached to the upper leg from Tigatron, the lower leg portion of the knee and the sockets for the hips are from DepthCharge, and the balls for the sockets are from Rampage. This alteration was the impetus for one of our many ideas for possible Unicron.com accessory packs that never came to fruition. The difference with this idea, is that final 3D models, and even one round of resin prototypes were produced. We decided last minute to can the production of this accessory pack due to timing, perceived interest, and the relatively high production cost involved. Check our our short homage to the Unicron.com Armada Megatron Leg Kit that never was (or ever will be).

Transmetal 2 MEGATRON

In addition to Perceptor resculpted Megatron's face, & giving the wings an all orange look like the show, I 'altered' the dragon neck so it stays in the position you put it in. Click HERE to learn how I did what I did.

TRANSMETAL MEGATRON

I resculpted Megatron's face to give it sharp pointy things & re- molded the shark-tooth grin to make it look like it does in the show. The brown plastic was easily turned black with a permanent marker. I highly recommend doing this folks, it's easy and it makes a huge difference. by: Perceptor

MEGATRON

Megatron needed a tail which is both removable and re-attachable. Jason figured out how to do it and it's still very sturdy. When the tail is removed I built a hand that could be placed in the forearm. I also painted the chest and head to closely resemble the shows. by: Perceptor
